Bulls fall in the league cup.

Tuesday saw the return of Bulls legend Jonathan D'Laryea to the Forest Town Arena as The Bulls entertained Newark and Sherwood United at the Forest Town Arena.

AFC Mansfield arguably started the better side with the Bulls having a fair amount of possession inside the first ten minutes.

The Bulls were first to strike with a well taken and composed shot from striker Wilson under pressure inside the Newark area.

Newark turned things around after an unfortunate own goal from Alex Bartholomew.

In an attempt to clear the ball, the AFC Mansfield Captain slides in which results in the ball being turned into the Bull's goal.

The second goal of the night came from Newark's Luke White beating the Bulls keeper from some range and arguably a goal of a season contender.

Newark's Nyle Blake rounded up the scoring in the sixty-fourth minute.

Bulls Gaffer Paul Rockley congratulated Newark and Sherwood for progressing into the next round.

"Fair play to Newark and Sherwood a really competitive end to end game in the first half where it could have been easily a high score draw at half time both teams having enough chances to be clearly ahead.

In the second half we were comfortably beaten by the better side and Newark got on top of us and dominated the proceedings and showed why they are where they are in the league.

The squad on show tonight longer term will grow in experience - a 17-year-old goalkeeper, 18-year-old centre back, a 17-year-old midfielder and a winger aged 16 in the starting line up all who performed well and will grow as a group.

We will be stronger for the weekend against Quorn and full attention now shifts back to the league."

Up next The Bulls are on the road against Quorn on the 26th with a 3pm kick-off.
