AFC Mansfield 4-2 Barton Town: Match Report

An incredible four goals in 25 minutes saw AFC Mansfield's 'new' signing Ross Dugan complete a sensational return to the Bulls.

Duggan, who was announced yesterday afternoon, got his second stint with the Bulls off to a brilliant start, and helping guide Phil Buxton's side to a crucial victory over Barton Town.

Despite the difficult weather conditions, the Bulls immediately got off to a fantastic start through Duggan, who expertly converted a free-kick from 25-yards. Smashing past the experienced Mike Emery, Duggan returned to the club with a bang.

But there would be no stopping Duggan from grasping his brace, as the former Yorkshire Amateur attacker was excellently picked out by Alfie Dodsworth, before producing a remarkable finish past Emery and into the top corner.

Klarke Greenham is someone's whose made quite the splash since joining the club with four goals in his last four appearances, as the former Sherwood Colliery attacker helped his strike partner to his hattrick. Some consistent pressure from Greenham allowed the striker to win the ball back, before squaring into Duggan who wasn't going to mess up his hattrick.

As Barton heads continued to drop, the Bulls continued to prevail, as Duggan nicked his fourth. Perhaps the best of the lot, as Greenham fed the attacker who calmly rounded a Barton defender, before smashing home from distance.

Heading into the second half, the Swans nicked a first consolation goal back through Curtis Bateson. The winger, who had been booked moments before, showed some tricky footwork before curling an effort into the far corner of Adam Revuelta's goal.

And into stoppage time, Barton nicked another cheap consolation goal through Ben Hinchcliffe, who pounced on a loose ball into the Bulls box before slotting through a crowd of defenders.

An excellent performance from the Bulls despite dropping off in the second half, which also saw Barton's seventeen game unbeaten run come to a halt, along with their first away defeat of the league campaign.

The Bulls are next in action next Saturday, as Buxton's team make the journey into Yorkshire and to Knaresborough Town.
