Bulls Hold Firm to Seal 2-1 Win Againts Sheffield Football club

The Bulls secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sheffield FC, with goals from Kian Sketchley and Max Taylor proving enough to take the points on an afternoon that also saw goalkeeper Josh Turton mark his 100th appearance with a crucial penalty save.

The opening stages were closely contested, with Dolan brought down early to earn the Bulls a free-kick. Batty stepped up to take it, but his effort flew over the bar.

There was little to separate the two sides during the opening 20 minutes, with much of the contest being played out in midfield. Kaylum Mitchell had one of the better opportunities for the Bulls, although his effort was directed straight at the Sheffield goalkeeper.

A major moment arrived in the 23rd minute when Sheffield were awarded a penalty after Eden Griffin brought down Will Portman inside the area. However, Turton marked his milestone appearance in style by producing a superb save to keep the visitors out.

That stop proved even more significant just seconds later as the Bulls went straight up the other end and took the lead. Mitchell produced a fantastic run before holding the ball up for Kian Sketchley, who found the net to put the home side 1-0 ahead.

The goal gave the Bulls confidence and they began to grow into the contest and find their rhythm. Dolan looked to add a second, only to see his effort cleared away by the Sheffield defence.

Sheffield came out after the break looking for a route back into the game, with Alex Hardwick dragging an effort wide as the visitors attempted to find an equaliser.

Chances remained at a premium until the 70-minute mark, when Jacob Dainty went close for the Bulls with an effort that flew just wide.

A couple of minutes later,

Dan Shelbourne tried his luck from distance, but his effort was comfortably dealt with by the Sheffield goalkeeper.

The Bulls eventually found their second following an excellent piece of play from Mitchell. He delivered a superb cross into the box, putting the ball on a plate for Max Taylor, who made no mistake with a well-taken header to double the advantage.

Sheffield responded almost immediately, however, producing an excellent header of their own to reduce the deficit and make it 2-1.

That set up a tense finish as Sheffield looked for a late equaliser, but the Bulls held firm to see out the contest and secure all three points.

It was a battling performance from the Bulls, with Sketchley and Taylor providing the goals, Mitchell playing a key role in both and Turton producing a memorable penalty save on his 100th appearance to help his side over the line.
