The Bulls faced Gresley Rovers with the manager looking to drive AFC Mansfield up the league and build some momentum.

The contest lacked quality during the opening stages, with neither side able to take a real grip on the game.

It was the Bulls, though, who eventually produced the first genuine moment of quality to break the deadlock.

With 27 minutes on the clock, Kaylum Mitchell delivered superbly into the danger area, putting the chance on a plate for Zach Reynolds, who made no mistake with the finish to open the scoring.

Just four minutes later, the pair combined again, this time reversing roles. Reynolds produced an excellent cross and Mitchell was there to apply the finishing touch, doubling the Bulls’ advantage on 31 minutes after some excellent play between the two.

Moments later, Reynolds came close to adding a third for the Bulls, but his effort was blocked on the line as Gresley breathed a sigh of relief.

Gresley then found a route back into the game when a cross into the box was met by their number five, who powered a header home to reduce the deficit.

With 60 minutes on the clock, Will Heather found himself in space and looked to restore the Bulls’ two-goal advantage, but his effort was kept out by the Gresley goalkeeper.

Kian Sketchley was next to try his luck, but he dragged his effort wide as the Bulls continued to search for a third.

Sketchley was involved again soon after, delivering a cross right on the nose for Ingram, whose effort was saved by the Gresley goalkeeper.

Substitute Charlie Fox was next to threaten, letting fly with an effort, but he couldn’t quite get his angles right and the Gresley goalkeeper was able to make a comfortable save.

The next chance came from another excellent Kaylum Mitchell cross, but Fox could not quite get his header right and the effort sailed over the bar.

Ryan Ingram finally sealed the game in the 89th minute. After being played in by Kian Sketchley, Ingram found himself in plenty of space, drove towards goal, darted around the Gresley goalkeeper and calmly slotted the ball home to wrap up the victory for the Bulls.
