PREVIEW | Sleaford Town (A)

Updated: Aug 10, 2019

Matt Chatfield's AFC will be hoping to advance to the Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup once again, this time at the expense of Sleaford Town.

The Bulls travel to Lincolnshire for a 3pm kick-off on the back of a opening day 2-0 victory over Knaresborough Town in the NCEL Premier Division last weekend.

Ross Duggan bagged both goals in Chatfield's competitive debut, whilst the Bulls saw out the result with 10 men for the majority of the game.

AFC enjoyed yet another successful FA Cup campaign last season, demolishing Kirby Muxloe on their own turf with a 6-0 thrashing before progressing to the Second Qualifying Round where they were edged out by higher league opposition Kettering Town.

The winner of Saturday's tie will travel to either Radford FC or Heanor Town for the Preliminary Round.

The Opposition

Sleaford so far have not enjoyed the greatest of starts to their 2019/20 campaign, losing 4-1 at home to Oadby Town on the opening day before Pinchbeck United edged the Greens out in a 2-1 victory on Tuesday night.

Team News

Despite initial hopes of having Jack Warwick's red card from last Saturday overturned, the new Bulls striker will miss the trip to Lincolnshire after he was shown a straight red in the first half of the victory over Knaresborough.

Tom Slone will also be missing out on the cup trip, whilst Dean Smith is in the squad for the first time this season.
