Match Preview: Goole AFC (A)

After a weekend off, the Bulls are back in action tomorrow night as the NCEL League Cup Second Round begins.

Phil Buxton and the boys will make the journey to Yorkshire, with the test of Goole AFC standing between AFC Mansfield and advancing to the third round of the competition.

Previous meeting

Last time out between these two sides, it was goals galore at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds. Prior to the cancellation of the league season, a strong following from the Bulls fans saw their side run out 6-1 victors over Goole.

Taking the lead within the opening eighteen minutes, now-manager Buxton struck AFC Mansfield ahead, before a fine goal by Reagan Waud saw the game evened out.

On the brink of half-time, Ross Duggan restored the Bulls lead from the spot, before Benjamin Algar strengthened the scoreline with an excellent finish.

Duggan would go onto grasp a hattrick, helped by a goal by Luke Walker to solidify a wonderful day for AFC Mansfield.

Form Guide

The Bulls will be looking to pick up back-to-back wins for the second time this season, after previously defeating Albion Sports thanks to a goal from Ewan Catt.

AFC Mansfield had a eventful October, suffering defeats to Barton Town, Thackley and Knaresborough Town, but managing a point against Hemsworth Miners Welfare a few weeks ago.

Goole themselves are looking to overcome a poor spell of form, after defeating Maltby Main at the weekend thanks to a strike from Luke Williams.

The Vikings have just one victory from their previous seven outings, including a heavy defeat at the hands of Winterton Rangers in the FA Vase First Round, which saw Goole fall to a 5-1 defeat despite an early goal from Mitchell Pattinson.
