Match Preview: Garforth Town (A)

AFC Mansfield will look to put an end to their losing run with a victory against Garforth Town, as the Bulls make the journey to Yorkshire.

Previous meeting

It was goals galore last time these two sides locked horns, before the season was deemed null and void for covid-19 related reasons, as the Bulls ran out comfortable 5-0 victors.

Garforth had been in excellent form and were unbeaten in six, including thumping victories over Goole and Grimsby Borough, but to supporters shock the Bulls turned on their class against Town.

Goals from Jordan Annable, Morgan James, Matthew Sykes and a brace from Ross Duggan steered Mansfield to a satisfying triumph, in a game which saw them rise to third in the table.

Form guide

It's been a tricky past few weeks for the Bulls, something Phil Buxton admits to, but Mansfield will be hoping to bounce back on Saturday afternoon.

Despite defeating Goole on penalties in the NCEL League Cup's second round, Mansfield failed to build momentum, receiving a hammering from Grimsby Borough and two tight defeats to Winterton Rangers and Goole in league action.

Garforth on the other hand are currently sailing in confidence and form, as shown by recent results. Strong victories over Staveley Miners Welfare, Athersley Recreation, Penistone Church and Nostell Miners Welfare in the NCEL League Cup show exactly why the Miners currently sit second in the NCEL Premier Division.

Buxton's side will be aware of James Burgess too, who currently leads the line and has already netted 14 goals in all competitions this campaign.
