Bulls Bow Out of FA Cup After Northampton Defeat

The Bulls exited the FA Cup following a 2-0 away defeat to Northampton Sileby Rangers.

The Bulls were called into defensive action early when Northampton unleashed a powerful strike that rattled the crossbar before AFC cleared away the danger.

It was a fairly even contest before Ryan Ingram looked to make something happen on the half-hour mark, but his low effort was dragged wide of the post.

Moments later, Northampton's Tom Simmons caused the Bulls' defence plenty of problems as he danced his way around the defenders, created space for himself on the right and fired a low driven shot towards goal, but goalkeeper Josh Turton was equal to it.

A well-worked corner from the Bulls nearly gave the away side the lead as the delivery picked out Ryan Ingram perfectly, forcing John Meadows into a save.

With 10 minutes remaining in the first half, Abel Damoah tried his luck with a well-struck effort, but his shot sailed over the bar in what proved to be the final action of the opening 45 minutes.

It was Romeo Ingman (C) who gave Northampton Sileby Rangers the lead, running past a couple of Bulls players before calmly slotting the ball home to make it 1-0.

A great ball from Kian Sketchley followed as he drilled a cross into the box, putting it on a plate for defender Ethan Blackbourne, who was unable to direct his header on target.

Northampton soon grabbed the second goal of the game and sealed their place in the next round when substitute Dan Lyons rounded off the scoring to make it 2-0.
