Match Preview: Eccleshill United (A)

After bowing out of the Notts Senior Cup on Tuesday night, AFC Mansfield return to league action for the first time in two weeks with a visit to Eccleshill United.

Previous meeting

The reverse fixture between these two sides took place on just the second match of the season. After an opening day victory over Staveley Miners Welfare, the first home game of the campaign ended in a goalless draw.

Prior to that, these two sides haven't locked horns since August of 2019, where a brace from Ross Duggan helped ensure that the Bulls would pick up the three points, before a second match in the season was cancelled due to covid-19.

Form guide

There haven't been many games as of late for AFC Mansfield, after last Saturday's league postponement against Staveley Miners Welfare.

But a penalty shootout defeat to Newark FC in the Notts Senior Cup dampens the mood for sure, after a fantastic victory over title challengers Garforth Town in the last league outing.

Eccleshill are in a tough patch right now, with just one victory in their previous four matches. The win came over Sherwood Colliery, but a draw with Athersley Recreation and defeats to Barton Town and Winterton Rangers sees the Eagles sitting in third position, despite recent form.
