Match Preview: AFC Mansfield vs Garforth Town

The Bulls prepare to welcome supporters to the Forest Town Arena for the final time of the 2021/22 NCEL season this Saturday, as Garforth Town make the visit to face Phil Buxton's side.

A season of building for the Bulls comes to its conclusion, with AFC sitting in 16th place with a chance to rise to 15th depending on results elsewhere and how Saturday goes.

Previous meeting

It was unlikely celebrations for the Bulls last time these two sides clashed heads, as AFC ended a poor streak of form to defeat one of the title contenders at the Bannister Prentice Stadium.

Club stalwart Lynton Karkach was the eventual hero, scoring from distance to clinch a crucial three points for Buxton's side against the odds.

Form guide

The Bulls have had a season of building under Buxton so far, with many academy products coming through which helped see Ewan McKenna win the player of the month accolade for March.

Results wise it wasn't ideal either, but many injuries to key players such as Ross Duggan, Lynton Karkach, Klarke Greenham and Tom Slone has seen the Bulls struggle for results.

With one win in their last nine, AFC are already looking towards next season with new signings and club news expected in the future.

It has been a season to remember for the Miners, who currently sit in third position behind Eccleshill United and Grimsby Borough, but it isn't their final game of the season on Saturday with Garforth having Bottesford Town the following week.

They have been enjoying their football recently too, embarking on an eight game unbeaten run including a thumping 8-0 away triumph over Athersley Recreation.

With seven of their last eight also being victories, the Bulls will have to be at their best to grasp anything from the game on Saturday.
