Two good performances in the pre-season openers as the boys are up and running.
A really good outing for the team today as they hosted Nostell Miners Welfare in the scorching heat at Hallam Sports Park. The game was split into 30 minute thirds to enable both teams to rotate players.
The Bulls set off in well in period one, with Osborne hitting the post and Ackroyd having a shot blocked on the line. Then the first goal of the new era arrived, with a delicious free kick from Mears headed home with aplomb by club captain Alex Bartholomew. 1-0.
Period Two saw wholesale changes with the Bulls fielding eight teenagers in this period, and a lapse in concentration allowed Nostell to equalise. 1-1
Period Three saw Warhurst make two very good saves and Bouhereaoua was clean through on goal before a last ditch tackle prevented him from scoring.
Overall, a good day's work for the first team. See the video below for the thoughts of Joint Manager Spencer Fearn.
