The Bulls Manager is happy with pre-season progress.

With pre-season well underway for the Bulls, AFC Mansfield manager Phil Buxton is happy with the progress his team is making.

The Bulls have just five days to wait until their first match of the preseason, against Grantham Town which is set to be played at the RH Academy in Pleasley.

Speaking to AFC Mansfield's official youtube channel "Bulls TV" Bucko stated, "It's all coming together nicely, to be honest with you, which is nice to see.

You know what it's like, players have other commitments and it would be great to see all the players together".

Fitness has been a keyword for the Gaffer since returning to the Forest Town Arena, "Preseason is all about the fitness, getting minutes in their legs, we also recently started with ball work this week, so now we can implement our ideas and philosophies," he goes on to say "We are looking forward to the next 4 weeks".

The Bulls Gaffer praised the player's attitudes since returning to training stating this to be one of the Bull's areas that needed to improve from last season.

"Attitudes are really good around the camp at the minute, everyone is pulling in the same direction, both on and off the pitch, both I and Joe had to work on this from the moment we returned, and the change has been a really positive one, players have come up to us and said the standards have improved from last season"

He confirmed that they are five or six players from last season staying on with the Bulls.

"It's a matter of wiping the slate clean, we have to improve from last season we are not that AFC Mansfield anymore. We had to raise the standards both on and off the pitch which is something that is important to me, we expect high standards and that's not going to change during the season".

AFC Mansfield announced three new additions to the backroom staff anf the manager was delighted to be welcoming them onboard.

"We have gelled as a management team already which is great to see, Jake ( Hemstock) is a great young coach and we can't just run it as a two-man band, Ben is a great physio and there is also Jake ( Sleaford) who will be with him everywhere they go" He went on to say,

"Togetherness is a word I've used a lot since we have been back but it's so important, togetherness brings us points on the pitch".

The manager has also brought in a couple of younger players into the squad this season he mentioned that he has no qualms about putting young players on the pitch. "If you are good enough to play then you are old enough to play".

He remained tight-lipped about the prospect of news on players coming in, with the league registration not opening until the 6 of July, he said he would announce new players in "due course" by stating, "I am 80% happy with the squad, We had 5 targets in mind and we have 4 of those committed for the 23/24 season, so on that side, I am really happy.

AFC Mansfield fans always had an important part to play for the Bulls with the promise of attacking, attractive football it is sure to be an exciting season ahead.
