A disappointing afternoon at the Forest Town Arena meant that AFC Mansfield suffered back-to-back defeats in NCEL league action.
Winterton Rangers possessed Josh Walker, the division's top scorer, who added a brace to his tally of 11 goals to sentence Phil Buxton's side to defeat.
The Bulls were looking eager to get off to a positive start, as Thomas Cropper and Kian Sketchley both had chances which were adrift of the target.
Winterton weren't going to roll over however, with Paul Grimes showing promise and forcing Jason White into a strong save, before the goalkeeper was called into action to make a crucial save in preventing Grimes again.
Sketchley once again came close and tested Nathan Popple for the first time, but Winterton would prevail, as Ryan Thompson had a powerful strike rattle the side netting.
The signs were on the door, and soon enough, Winterton had the lead. Josh Walker, the league and cup top scorer, pounced onto a loose ball and coolly finished past White.
AFC Mansfield looked to respond via new signing Lewis Weaver, but his shot hammered against the crossbar before the referee waved away two penalty claims.
Heading into the second half, and it didn't get better for the Bulls. Walker continued to threaten the defence, this time outmuscling his opponent and calmly finishing past an unlucky White.
Rangers looked to grab a third in quick concession, but thankfully Anderson couldn't connect at the back post.
Popple would have to wait until the 73rd minute before being tested again, as captain Luke Walker cut inside of his man and had a sharp strike well caught by the Winterton shot-stopper.
But as the game ran down and tempers flared, it proved a frustrating day for the Bulls, who next play Goole AFC in league action on Tuesday night.
