AFC are delighted to announce an exciting new addition to Matt Chatfield's backroom staff, as Spencer Fearn arrives at the Forest Town Arena.
The Cruyff Master of Coaching not only has qualifications in management and sports psychology, but is also currently completing his UEFA A Licence and a masters in sports management.
The new arrival has worked in football for a number of years, including in the boardroom at Scottish club East Stirling as club owner and at Stockport County as Vice-Chairman, before quitting the boardroom to follow a coaching pathway five years ago.
Fearn was manager of Maltby Main for two seasons where he, along with John Stancliffe, led the club to their highest league position in 20 years before becoming taking the reins at Frickley Athletic.
In his first season at Frickley, the team were the highest scoring non-league team in Steps 1 to 4 of the non-league pyramid with 139 goals, broke a number of club records before missing out on an automatic promotion spot by three points and eventually losing out in the play-offs.
In October 2018 he moved on from Frickley Athletic with a win ratio of 59% after his role at Sheffield Wednesday became more permanent; he currently works with the Under-15 and Under-16 age groups at Hillsborough.
He has also spent five years working in professional boxing where he was responsible for the joint management of boxers from World Champion to entry level, and even promoted live televised events.
In his work life, Fearn is the owner of education company LifeSkills, audit company SRF Consultancy and co-owner of football academy NEFA.
"I'm delighted to join Matt and Stan at AFC Mansfield," Fearn told the club after joining, "I have known Matt for several years and Stan for a very long time.
"I've had 12 months out from coaching adult football and it's good to be back working in this area.
"It's a great club with an excellent Chairman and I hope to help the team progress up the table."
