Duggan signs new Bulls contract

AFC Mansfield are delighted to announce that prolific goalscorer Ross Duggan has penned a new contract at the Forest Town Arena.

The 25-year-old, who joined from Maltby Main in the summer, has scored 16 goals in 10 competitive appearances for the Bulls, including a sensational five in the 7-0 Emirates FA Cup win against Sleaford Town.

Having bagged a ridiculous nine goals in pre-season, consisting of three braces and then a hat-trick on his home debut, the new arrival was already exciting all those involved with the club before the new campaign could even commence.

Netting on 12 occasions in the opening month alone, Duggan hit the ground running in hot form and deservedly picked up the August Player of the Month accolade.

He continued to provide crucial goals for his side in the following month, scoring an injury time winner against Graham Street Prims in the Buildbase FA Vase, and having a hand in the 2-1 FA Cup replay win over Heanor Town, the 4-1 Cup defeat to Barwell in the next round, the 2-2 league draw at Handsworth and the 3-2 Vase win over Rainworth.

More impressively, Duggan has only failed to score in one game so far this season, when AFC were held to a 0-0 FA Cup draw at Heanor.

Club Chairman Andy Saunders expressed his "delight" at Duggan's commitment to the club, adding that the striker has "more than deserved" a new deal despite only joining in the summer.

Duggan will have the opportunity to continue adding to his tally this Saturday when the Bulls host Liversedge in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.
