Buxton handed Bulls captaincy

Long-serving Bulls midfielder Phil Buxton will be taking the captain's armband for the upcoming 2019/20 season.

Having played for the Bulls 277 times over two spells, 'Bucko' is AFC's record appearance holder.

The versatile midfielder, formerly of Mansfield Town and Arnold Town, returned to the Forest Town Arena for his second spell in 2017 after spending most of the 2016/17 season at neighbours Rainworth Miners Welfare.

Bulls manager Matt Chatfield said that handing Buxton the captaincy was a "no brainer".

"He's been at the club for numerous years and knows the club inside out," the gaffer said, "he has shown real leadership qualities over the past few weeks and I'm delighted that he accepted the role."
