Bulls sign exciting trio

Updated: Dec 30, 2019

AFC have completed the signing of three new arrivals, two of whom return to the Forest Town Arena after spells elsewhere.

Striker Gavin King arrives from Maltby Main, whilst midfielder Cameron Dear and defender and former Bulls skipper Matt Wilson both completed deals to return to the club.

King joined Maltby Main at the beginning of the 2019/20 season after spending two years at Ollerton Town, where he impressively netted 63 times in just 90 appearances for Town.

The striker started 12 times for Maltby this season, scoring on five occasions, whilst also on a dual registration with Sherwood Colliery.

King marked his debut by coming off the bench in Saturday's 3-0 league defeat to Barton Town.

After leaving the club at the beginning of the season, skilful winger Cameron Dear also came off the bench in Saturday's defeat to mark a quick second return to the club.

Dear played a key part in the Bulls' promotion to the Northern Premier League in the 2017/18 season, alongside the third and final signing of the weekend.

The midfielder is joined by highly-regarded defender Matt Wilson, who recently departed Northern Premier League outfit Lincoln United.

Wilson too was a crucial member of the promotion-winning side of 2018, captaining Rudy Funk's AFC to third in the NCEL Premier Division.

Chairman Andy Saunders said he was delighted to secure deals for all three: "It is great to welcome Gavin to the club, and to welcome back Cameron and Matt who we already know very well.

"We are at a crucial stage of the season and it was important to back the manager by bringing in the right players.

"Hopefully this can help us kick-start our season and climb the table after what we can safely say has been a poor campaign thus far."
