Bulls capture Ben Algar signature

AFC are delighted to announce the signing of Maltby Main defender Ben Algar.

The Bulls won the race for the 30-year-old's signature in time for the first training session since lockdown, adding to an already impressive squad including new signings Matt Sykes, Lynton Karkach and Liam Marsden.

"I know Matt [Chatfield] fairly well," he told Bulls TV, "the opportunity had arisen and I thought it would be good to take it on with some of the players they had signed.

"It's a new challenge for me - I just want to kick on and win the league.

"With the team we've got now, we should be pushing right up there."

Formerly of Chesterfield, Matlock Town, Shaw Lane, Sheffield FC and Frickley Athletic before a spell at fellow NCEL side Maltby Main, the full-back enters Matt Chatfield's side as one of the squad's most experienced players.

Algar said he hopes such experience will bring a sense of composure to the team.

"I can create chances, I got a lot of assists last season, I like attacking and hopefully my experience will help the team," he said.
