AFC Mansfield have today completed the signing of Ryan Williams from Scarborough Athletic. Ryan comes in as a player/coach for The Bulls.
Speaking to Ryan today he said he was delighted to be joining up with Manager Rudy Funk again and a club that is going in the right direction.
Having talked to Chairman Steve Hymas and Director Andy Saunder's who he knew from his Mansfield days, he knew it was the right decision.
First and foremost Ryan is still definitely a player but the coaching side of it is a natural progression for him as in his own words you can't play forever.
He is looking forward to the challenge, which starts at Shirebrook next week and he believes that promotion is still a possibility this season.
Ryan has played 20 times for Scarborough this season in The Evo-Stik Division One North.
Many people from the Mansfield area will remember Ryan from his Mansfield Town days. Ryan played a total of 67 times for the Stags in 2 spells at the club.
Ryan has also had league experience at Tranmere Rovers, Chesterfield, Hull City and Bristol Rovers making over 200 league appearances in total.
He has also played at some high profile non-league sides and had 65 appearances for Scarborough before his move.
