AFC Mansfield

Well it seems like only two minutes since we set up the young bulls.  The formation of the young bulls was to provide the children of Mansfield with a football club that they can be proud of as well as provide them with opportunity to play football in a safe and enjoyable environment (and hopefully win some trophies).

Well, what a start it has been.  The highlights have been already winning a league title well done to the under 15 boys with a 100% record scoring in excess of 100 goals and everyone in the team scoring.  That is an incredible achievement.  The under 16 boys reaching the Nottinghamshire County FA cup final. This being our first attempt is a great achievement.   Well done boys do us proud in the final at Sutton Town's Fieldings ground in February.

On a personal note, Millie Clarke recorded a record with 10 goals in a single game.  An AFC Mansfield record which not even Dean Rick has not managed.  Fantastic effort in your first game for the club.  The girls have had a good start to the season and will be looking to push on to a good finish to the season.

The under 10 are well positioned to win the league with a few crunch games to follow in the new year.  They have already achieved one cup final hopefully another will follow later in the season.  Keep up the hard work boys.

The under 11 boys have achieved mid table stability so far. Hopefully the boys can have a good run in the second half of the season and climb the table.

I was asked a couple of weeks ago why l never say anything about the under 7's.  It is not that we do not care, far from this.  We have to respect the non competitive aspect of their age group. As you move through the age group we will be able to provide more information.

It is also encouraging to see of the under 16's training and playing in a recent friendly with the under 19.  This goes to show that there is the possibility to move through the AFC Mansfield ladder.  How long will it be until one of the kids plays for the first team.  We will have to wait and see.

So where now for 2014.  Well let's hope for plenty of silverware on the field, i think this is more of a matter of time than if.  Preparations are underway for all of your end of season presentation evenings with more details to follow.  Also, the Second AFC Mansfield race night will be underway on the 22nd February at the welfare and we would like to see as many as you there as possible to raise funds for the club.

We expect to grow the young bulls with a number of different sides joining the fold for next season as we grow the AFC family.

All the directors and staff at AFC Mansfield wish all of you players, managers and parents a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.  Remember if you feel like watching some football we play Welbeck at home on Boxing Day with a 3 pm kick off and Thorne again at home on the 28th  with a 3pm kick off.  Player get in free with their passes.

Bully Bully!
